what not to wear - part deux

auburn/alabama game. there's nothing like it, i don't care what they say! it's the best rivalry. ever. i actually have alabama fan friends now (should that be a new "friend" category??) so i have to watch what i say sometimes......but auburn or alabama, here's something i think we can all agree on: these outfits are just horrendous!!! check it:

ha! these guys were tailgating next to us. they actually started out in jeans and then changed into these....ummm.....AWESOME (?) pants right before the game. i appreciate their effort, however, i think grown men shouldn't be wearing such pants. ever.

hmmmm. what am i gonna wear to the game today?? i think i'll wear my shaker shirt! yeah!! that's what i'll wear!

i think this is pretty self-explanatory. orange leggings. for real? i thought it was thanksgiving weekend, not halloween!!

sparkly dress? hose? patten pumps? new years eve? nope. it's just a football game sweetheart. and it's 9:30am. come on.

so there you have it. i think next football season this will have to be a regular installment on my blog. because let's be real. these are probably the most entertaining posts i have!

i am thankful for

*my church. because it truly is like an extension of my family. i trust them. they know me (and love me anyway!). and have watched me grow up over the past 28 years.

*my family. my parents. my brothers. my sisters-in-law. the kids. the cousins (some of them). it doesn’t get much better (or crazier) than that!

*my friends (auburn and church). they’ve taught me what real friendships are all about. through fun times, hard times, and stupid times….they’re always there, no matter what. (note: i had auburn friends and church friends separated into 2 different categories, but went ahead and combined them. thanks barrett for officially making me mix my friends.)

*a good glass of wine. or a bad glass. just any glass of wine really.

*tall white chocolate mochas. or grande peppermint mochas. or tall caramel macchiatos (regular or iced). so i guess just starbucks in general, huh?

*chocolate.

*sweatpants and sweatshirts. and being comfy!

*curling up on the sofa watching movies/tv/tivo.

*my house.

*my sweet parker, mallory, and walker. oh…..did i already mention them? oops! i just can’t get enough of them!

*tailgating.

*cheeseburgers.

another parker story

my brother's kids never had a chance. the brainwashing began before they were even born. and when they could talk is when it really became fun! touchdown auburn! (hands go up in the air like a referee). who's auburn's coach? tommy tuberville. what do tigers say? rawrrrrrr! what do elephants say? wahhh wahhhh wahhh (with fists up to eyes like a crybaby). who's your favorite auburn player? mr. mix! (that's anthony mix, #9, that parker got to meet after one of the games. he LOVED him!)

now, i'm afraid we've created a monster with parker. we've updated the coaches (they know chizik and trooper) and the players (ben tate, chris todd, mario, onterrio, etc.). but here is one of greatest stories i've heard lately:

mark woke parker up for school a couple of days ago. as he was waking him up, parker looked up at him and said "daddy, is mario fannin a junior or senior?" mark told him he's just a junior. parker said "good. because he's really good and i want his jersey, but i was afraid he was already a senior." he is his father's son, that's for sure!!! soaking up all that useless sports trivia like a big sponge!

missed opportunities

if only i had been a little quicker with camera yesterday. i would have had the most amazing "what not to wear - athens style" blog EVER. so instead of some really jaw dropping pictures to look at, you're gonna have to use your imagination. (fun pictures of the day inserted randomly for your viewing pleasure) here goes:

A#1 - realllllly short dress. top half, black. bottom half, silver metallic floral print. black tights. flat sam and libby type shoes. in no way, shape, or form was this ensemble even close to being cute.
B#2 - high wasted, stone washed, levi cut-off shorts. patterned black tights under the shorts. i don't even remember what shirt or shoes were being worn, but i don't think it made the outfit any better.

C#3 - white jersey. black leggings. tall brown boots. in theory, could be decent, but didn't really come out like i think she wanted it to.

a second great moment from the game was when an auburn fan came up to our section, which happened to be full of auburn fans and just started cussing at everyone. she was standing in the middle of the stairs. dropping f-bombs left and right. telling everyone to get up and cheer. but she wasn't being nice. she was absolutely ridiculous. one guy sitting a next to us told her to shut up and go sit down. (she was truly embarrassing herself!) she jumped up in his face and pushed him. no lie. so the man went and got security and the crowd started chanting "take her out! take her out!" pretty bad when you piss off your own people!! it was quite entertaining though.

so we lost the game. but it was a really really fun road trip!! i loved every second of it (minus the late night drive home)!

happy birthday walker

this little man turned 2 saturday!

we had a funfilled day in auburn which included tailgating, cake, presents, lots and lots of playing, and even a football game!!

there was so much going on and so many kids there that none of them slowed down even for a second!! until it was time to pack up and go home.

it was so much fun!! i can't believe he's already 2!!

slow as christmas?

believe it or not - well, it’s actually getting easier to believe because it seems to happen earlier and earlier each year – the galleria has already started the christmas decorating. there are gigantic jingle bells hanging from the glass ceilings and the carousel is being transformed from frogs, giraffes, and pigs to dasher, dancer, and prancer. i’m not gonna lie and tell you that this bothers me. in fact, it’s quite the opposite. it makes me excited. it makes me smile. i even listened to some christmas tunes yesterday (without any shame, mind you)!

you know what christmas means, right? of course, we all know the true meaning of christmas. but let’s talk about the not so important stuff that makes it even more fun. (i realize that sounds bad, but you know what i mean!!) cold wintry days. santa claus. peppermint mochas from starbucks. cheesy christmas movies on abc family and lifetime. driving through neighborhoods looking at christmas lights. the hustle and bustle of shopping and parties. dirty santa. fun music (i want a hippopotamus for christmas, anyone??). christmas trees and lights in the front yard. i’m so ready.

so i’m here to tell you….don’t hate on the early start of christmas. embrace it. because it never really hurt anyone to celebrate a few extra days of the fun things AND the real thing of christmas. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

nothing like it

it started reallllly early, but couldn't have been better. 4 close friends. premier parking spot right by the stadium. free suite and club level tickets. a little maker's mark and sprite zero (or 7up depending on who you are). what an amazing fall saturday.

we hit the road about 7:15am and pulled onto the plains around 9:00. there was a cool breeze in the air......okay, it was a little cold! the leaves had changed colors and campus was more beautiful than ever. we didn't do anything special. just walked around campus and visited the bookstore. ran into some old friends that we haven't seen in a while. went to the game and actually won!! hung out with old friends again and then headed home. and ate some nachos at momma g's. but being in auburn......there's just nothing like it. i was just there a couple of weeks ago, but every time i go back it's a whole new experience. i believe in auburn, and love it!!
