top 10 reasons an almost 30 year old should not stay up til 2am on a school night

a#1 – 5 hours just isn’t enough sleep. especially when you’re used to a minimum of 8.

b#2 – bouncing back is much more difficult than it used to be. may take days to recover.

c#3 – red puffy eyes. all. day. long.

d#4 – constant yawning.

e#5 – makes for the longest. workday. ever.

f#6 – no chance in hell for an afternoon workout. afternoon nap MUCH more likely.

g#7 – low concentration. low productivity.

h#8 – requires an afternoon pick-me-up from starbucks (see f#6 for why this is bad).

i#9 – an ill mood is inevitable. it’s just a matter of when it will show up.

j#10 – hinders the ability to even THINK about late night weekend plans.

power of positive thinking

work has been a little rough the past month or 3. things were just starting to feel different. i dreaded getting up and going to work. after work, my mood was not a good one and it took me a little while to settle down even around my friends. and this is all in a job i've only had a little over a year. so that, in and of itself, frustrated me. there were a lot of changes going on. a lot of negativity from all different directions. and i got sucked in. i vented about it to friends. i would just get mad. i would even sit at my desk all day and not talk to anyone. okay - that is SO not me!

one morning, i was taking a shower getting ready. i decided i had had enough and from that moment on, i was going to have a positive attitude about work. i prayed a very simple prayer. "Lord, let me have a positive attitude." (as random as it may sound, my favorite prayer times are in the morning when i'm taking a shower and then when i'm drying my hair. it just starts my day off right.) i'm not lying when i say that ever since that day, things have been much better. i still pray that prayer each morning. and i feel it working. that's a great feeling.

"Lord, let me have a positive attitude. and let it be a great day!"

you're not gonna believe this!!!

it's time again for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. i LOVE this!! it so much fun to raise money and get out there with thousands of people who all have the same goal: to help find a cure for this heartbreaking disease. it's especially important to me to participate each year because of my mom.

while all that is important, THIS is what you're not gonna believe. check out my donation page! gene chizik has made a very generous donation! can you believe it?? GENE CHIZIK!!!! all that early stalking has absolutely paid off! and don't try to tell me it's not really him. that someone just typed in his name instead of their own. that someone is just trying to trick me into thinking the gene chizik actually tracked me down, found out what a great cause i was promoting, and decided to donate. because that's just not true! :) now if only tommy tuberville could find me too!!!

so check it out. and make a donation too!!

what not to wear - auburn style

tailgating is fun. especially when you don't have a tv, because that just means more time for people watching. some of the things that girls (and guys) wear to the games just blow my mind! this week, i had the opportunity to snap a few pictures. now, here's my disclaimer: i would probably be a great candidate for the actual TLC show what not to wear. my fashion sense is fairly weak. and i'm not saying these outfits (or girls that are wearing them) aren't cute. what i'm saying is they are wildly inappropriate for a college football gameday. so without further adieu, i present to you what not to wear - auburn style:

you can't quite get all the details of this skirt, but it was shiny. and check out the biker boots. i guess this chick hasn't found her cowboy boots yet. at least the skirt is tiger print which pulls in the auburn aspect.

this sweet little girl COULD. NOT. WALK. love the dress. love the shoes. but seriously? for a football game? when you're gonna be walking around campus AND standing the whole game? no thanks. needless to say, we saw her walking a few steps and then sitting a few minutes to rest her poor little feet. money bet she'll be wearing flip-flops to the game next week!

because nothing says "i'm an auburn fan going to the game today" like a neon green dress.

for the record, i'm a fan of cowboy boots with dresses/skirts. what i'm not a fan of here is A#1 the cropped stonewashed denim vest and B#2 (which you can't really see here) the brown corduroy skirt. it's september. in alabama. and while it was very nice saturday, it was still not quite time to break out the corduroy.

this girl was a little old to be decked out in her ed hardy/affliction inspired auburn shirt and itty bitty white shorts. that, coupled with the cowboy boots just makes for a horrendous ensemble. if she had on tennis shoes or flip-flops (and maybe even another inch or two on those shorts) this outfit may have been more acceptable.

sweet dreams

or not. i seriously have the craziest, most vivid dreams almost each and every night. i try my hardest to remember them and tell at least one person, because they really make good stories! so here are the 2 most recent crazy ones:

#1 - i was staying at my parents' house while they were out of town and invited some friends over to hang out and spend the night. we were having just good old fashion fun until there was a knock on the door. it was 4 georgia police officers.........trying to KIDNAP me!! my friends were trying to protect me from being dragged out of the house and luckily i kept getting away. but they kept following me around town. they wouldn't give up. here's the kicker: they were trying to kidnap me so they could sell me as a sex slave in the philippines!!!!! i woke up in a panic and i remember thinking "i don't wanna be a sex slave in the philippines!!!! i just wanna die!!!!" when i realized it was just a dream, i breathed a deep sigh of relief and rolled over and drifted back to dream again.

#2 - it was the first auburn football game of the season. chizik's first game as our new head coach. the thing i was most excited about was the tiger walk. 3 hours before kickoff, we headed down donohue (okay, so far this dream completely came true last saturday!!) to get our spot on the front row of tiger walk. (**side note: i've been known to get a little rowdy or excited or fired up at tiger walk. i've been picked up and carried by a player, given tommy tuberville and birthday card even though he didn't want to take it, and always give "friendly pats"-or "pounding"- on the back.) as we got closer, i noticed something new. 12 foot chain link fences all the way from where the bus let the players off to the stadium. i was terribly upset. how was i going to hug chizik? or tell them all war eagle? or pat them on the back? i was furious. i started to climb the fence, but realized that wouldn't work. then i thought i could somehow sneak on the other side of the fence, but just couldn't get through. just as i was about to pull out my "chain link fence cutters," i woke up.

that's all for now. but i'm sure there will be more to come! in the meantime, sweet dreams to all!
