oops

i told my mom to shut up today. and not in a playful conversation kind of way. in the real, shut your face, kind of way. and i feel badly about it. but she started it. we were talking about couples that live together that aren't married. i have no problem with it. i don't think it's for me, but i have absolutely nothing against it (that is, of course, if it's a good relationship and a good situation). my mom and sis-in-law agreed that adults are free to make their own decisions and if that's for them, then go for it. here's how the rest of the conversation went:

me: "i hear y'all saying it's an adult decision and i agree, but if it were me moving in with my boyfriend, you'd have something different to say. so just remember that when i move in with my boyfriend (that i don't have)."

mom: "i just wish you HAD an actual boyfriend so you COULD move in with him!"

me: "SHUT. UP."

i think i had every right to say what i said. but i did feel bad about it. people make comments all the time about "why aren't you married yet?" and "what's wrong with you?" (seriously? what's wrong with YOU for asking me that?!) and "i just hope you find somebody." my mom doesn't really mean it the way it comes out sometimes, but to be honest it does just suck. and it frustrates me. my bro used to get the brunt of those comments since he's waaaaaaay older (hee hee) than me, but now that he's getting married, it's all on me.

this isn't meant to be a "poor pitiful single me" post, because - while i do have those days - my life ROCKS and i'm blessed beyond belief with amazing family, friends, church, etc. but for real mom, SHUT UP!!!

I can understand why that would be frustrating. And seriously, what is wrong with the people who would dare say something like that??? Social retards! How about this... it's so much better that you're single and happy than in a relationship where you settled and are unhappy in less than a year and divorced... like half the folks I know. So, I'm proud of you and I say, rock on you rockin' chick!!!

And, don't feel bad about saying shut up. That's basically what Lucy said to me yesterday! :-)

Love you!
